Biomedical and Electrochemical Sensor Materials

Silver / Silver Chloride Inks
Ercon has a market leading position in silver/silver chloride ink technologies, providing the highest performance capabilities available to the disposable and semi-disposable sensor markets, relying on its novel materials sciences for an unparalleled combination of efficiency and economy.
Ercon's patented Ag/AgCl compositions comprise finely dispersed chloridised silver flake particulates that enable printed sensor surfaces to possess greater control, capacity, conductivity, and wettability. Our exclusive particle technology is functionally superior to irregularly-shaped silver chloride from grinding techniques, providing greater availability and continuity between particles and coating surfaces.

Carbon / Graphite Inks
Ercon's proprietary conductive dispersions and processing technologies enable sensor manufacturers to produce smaller sensors with enhanced signal strength and control, while minimizing bias noise. Several of the world's leading glucose test strip manufacturers use Ercon's carbon/graphite inks to produce the fastest and smallest sample volume sensors available on the point-of-care market.

Platinum, Gold, Catalyst Inks
Ercon is committed to meeting the specialized needs of the medical and environmental sensor industries, providing manufacturers with a selection of high purity Polymer Thick Film gold and platinum based products, while advancing materials technologies in catalyst inks that rely upon enhanced particle technologies.

Insulayer
These materials are used for screen printing protective and insulating patterns to control the dimensional access to sensor electrochemical interface zones, where print edge definition is critical. Additionally, in certain sensor designs, several of these formulations also function to simultaneously adhere filtration mesh to other sensor layers, providing greater sample volume control and immobilization.

FIP Microporous Media
These novel coating formulations are designed for the controlled placement and formation of microporous membranes on flat or curved surfaces, providing many advantages in processability, economy, and design flexibility versus conventional pre-cast membranes.

Electronic Materials

Silver Inks & Epoxies
Ercon's extensive silver-based technologies involve specially prepared suspensions of finely divided silver in a variety of resin systems for most coating methods. Patented and proprietary materials and formulations enable us to provide systems which effectively accomplish diverse product and process requirements very economically, ranging from ultra-fine patterns down to 3 mil, to silver epoxy "inks" with extended pot-lives in excess of a month, to sprayable shielding compositions.

Carbon / Graphite Inks
Ercon's carbon-based technologies enable printers to apply ultra-fine patterns for economy, and to facilitate component miniaturization. When applied over silver traces, these dispersions serve to protect circuits from silver ion migration. The formulations are designed for excellent wear and adhesion to many surfaces to increase design flexibility, reduce cost, and increase component performance.

Gold, Platinum, Catalyst Inks
Ercon manufactures a selection of high purity Polymer Thick Film gold and platinum systems, applying its proprietary enhanced particle technologies for these specialized applications.

Specialty Formulations (Ag/AgCl, Force-Sensing, Silver/Carbon Blends)
Ercon's patented Ag/AgCl systems provide the highest performance capabilities available. Billions of electrochemical sensors rely upon our exclusive particles technologies each year, making us the leader in this market segment. Our portfolio of novel technologies include a number of force sensor materials compositions. Our force sensitive rubber materials provide improved intuitive response, and our screen-printable, force-sensing PTF inks are used for low profile, high resolution, transiential and static pressure diagnostic devices. Ercon also manufactures several standard and custom silver-carbon conductor blends for controlled resistivity requirements and reduced cost.
